Hello, doctor my sister is suffering from hyperthyroidism, for many years she has t3 = 709 ng/dl, t4 = 30.04 ug/dl, tsh = 0.011 and she is currently in medication of neo-mercazole 5 but recently in since 4 months she has been hearing voices, weird flashes and auditory hallucination constantly is it due to thyroid what should we do?

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. She has very severe hyperthyroidism. The complaints mentioned are unlikely to be due to hyperthyroidism. Secondly the dosage of tablet neo-mercazole seems quite inadequate. There's a need to increase. Tsh should come up to 2 -3 mu/l and t4 as well as t3 levels have to come down rapidly. So please talk to your physician and get it sorted. Thanks.

Consult a doctor physically immediately. She is experiencing psychosis symptoms. It could be due to her uncontrolled thyroid. It could also be due to derailment of electrolytes or it could be denovo. If de novo i.e. New then doctor may refer to psychiatrist as well.
